Before You or Your Kids Say, "I Do."

Before You or Your Kids Say, "I Do."

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."1

A Daily Encounter reader writes, "My son is seeing a young woman who is trying to force him to marry right away even though they hardly know each other. Is there any way I can advise him?"

As your son is legally an adult, there isn't much you can do unless he seeks your counsel. If he were my son and asked for my counsel and is a Christian, the following is what I would do:

1. I would encourage him to pray earnestly for God's direction and especially that God would reveal to him the truth, both about himself and about his lady friend, and their relationship. When physical attraction and/or need is strong, couples are very often blind to reality, marry before they really know each other, and alas too late discover they made a big mistake. However, when seeing the truth before marriage, at least the one earnestly seeking the truth knows what he/she needs to do.

2. I would urge him to receive the best possible pre-marriage counseling with his potential life partner as this is an excellent way to see the truth about each other and to see if they are well suited for each other or otherwise.

3. I would warn him that anyone who is pushing to get married too soon and before receiving adequate pre-marriage counseling is either very needy and over-dependent and/or hiding a character weakness—possibly a serious one—and wants to hook a partner before his/her flaws are discovered.

4. If my son is a Christian and his lady friend is not—based on God's Word I would let him know that this is a big NO-NO. As God's word wisely advises, "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?"2 For a healthy and strong relationship it is very important that both are emotionally mature and spiritually in harmony with each another.

5. Above all, I would encourage my son to earnestly seek God's guidance regarding this relationship and to make sure he and his potential spouse pray together regularly and put God first in both their personal life and relationship should they decide to, or not to, marry. If they don't do this before marriage, it isn't too likely they will do it afterwards.

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, please help me to be a fine Christian example to my children so that they, seeing my life, will want You to be first in their life and always seek Your guidance and seek to live in harmony with Your will. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus's name, amen."

1. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV).
2. 2 Corinthians 6:14 (NIV).

Newly Wed Met and Engaged On the Parking Spot of Airport

The Parking Spot provided a backdrop for Cheri and Jack Leutz's wedding photos. The couple met and got engaged on the airport shuttle.

Cheri and Jack Leutz met and got engaged on The Parking Spot airport shuttle

DALLAS, Aug. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- What's more romantic than meeting the love of your life on a dream vacation? Dallas residents Cheri and Jack Leutz may have figured out the answer: Meeting the love of your life on an airport shuttle bound for The Parking Spot.

After meeting and getting engaged on The Parking Spot, Dallas newlyweds Cheri and Jack Leutz incorporated the airport shuttle into their big day. The yellow-and-black spotted shuttle helped transport the wedding party from the ceremony to the reception site.

    PR Newswire (http://s.tt/1kSQt)

Cheri and Jack were married on July 28, four years after meeting on The Parking Spot airport shuttle in Dallas, Texas. Cheri was home from a whirlwind trip to New York; Jack was returning from visiting family in Colorado. Jetlagged and dressed down, the two struck up a conversation about their matching grey sneakers, playing kickball and a mutual love of Mexican food.

"It was just serendipity that it worked out. I missed my intended airport transportation lot. As a result, I ended up at the Parking Spot, and on Jack's shuttle," Cheri said. "If I had taken a cab or parked in the other lot, we never would've met. It just seemed like we were meant to meet."

Simply put, the two hit it off. In September 2011, the couple found themselves back on The Parking Spot shuttle, headed to Colorado Springs to visit his family in Woodland Park. To get them to the airport, Jack had reserved a covered spot, private shuttle and personal chauffeur – the local Parking Spot general manager. As Cheri rifled through luggage and boarding passes, their song began to play, and Jack got down on one knee. As they say, the rest is history.

"This is such a classic story of two people being in the right place at the right time," said Mark P. Wildman, Senior Vice President of Marketing for The Parking Spot. "Where you park does matter, and in this case, two strangers felt comfortable enough on our shuttle to strike up what turned out to be a life-changing conversation. We're honored to be a part of their story."

Cheri and Jack tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony in Woodland Park, Colo. The Parking Spot's black and yellow spotted shuttle played a role in the couple's big day, transporting the wedding party to and from the venue and reception. It also served as a central location for wedding photos and an indoor respite from their drizzly wedding day. After the wedding, the two were paradise-bound – The Parking Spot helped to make the couple's honeymoon to Maui possible.

TODAY, 23RD MAY, 2012 MARKS MY 21ST WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!!!

To the glory of God based on His infinite mercy and luv and with a heart full of happiness and gratitude to God Almighty, I am happy to announce to all my friends, enemies and associates that today 23rd May, 2012 marks my 21st wedding anniversary to a rare gem and embodiment of motherhood –fmr ADA CHIOMA HENRIETTA NWAORGU OF IMO STATE.

Chief & Mrs Eze C. Eze During Their 20th Wedding Anniversary.

This lady that I met on 16th January, 1986 in UNICAL we were students and thru sports came together as friends. I was then the University Students Director of Sports, UNICAL Football Team-Manager and Sports Coordinator of Faculty of Arts of UNICAL while she was the Athletics Captain and a key member of the University female Football Team. In assisting me to coordinate the female athletes in 1986, we won the 1986 Inter-Faculty Games of the University. She was a close ally in most of the key feats I achieved both as a student and student’s union activist!

She left the University in 1988 to do her youth service in Port Harcourt while I left in 1989 to serve in Yola in the then Gongola State present day Taraba and Adamawa States. We got married formally on 23rd Dec, 1991 at her home town, Ngo-Okpala in Imo State and wedded by Bishop Ignatius Kaigama in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Yola on 23rd May, 1992. She assisted me to set up Eze Continental Investment Ltd from the scratch and today it has become a household name in the entire North East of Nigeria in areas of Sports Promotion and selling of the best quality of sports equipment until January 2012 when we were forced to leave Yola due to the menace of Boko Haram to our present abode in Abakalik, Ebonyi State.

Mrs. Eze and their son Kelechi.

To the glory of God we are blessed with six great kids. Two of them are already in the University studying Computer Science and Public Administration, two to enter university before the year runs off while the last two are in Secondary and Primary Schools.

The devil and his cohorts knowing how great this family ordain by God will be plotted to eliminate my entire family when on 21st Dec, at Ogoja in CRS my Jeep conveying my wife and five of my kids for the xmas was involved in a fatal accident with a FAD Trailer that cost the lives of the Driver and two of the conductors of the trailer while nobody in the Jeep sustained any serious injury. Just for God to prove His luv and concern for my family.

My brothers and sisters, join me to pray and thank God for seeing us through till this day as we rededicate our lives for better services to mankind!

If there is anything like reincarnation, I will still pray God to grant me the grace to remarry this great gift to mankind!

    CAUDRY, France, June 8, 2011/PRNewswire/ --

    - Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen Chooses Sophie Hallette Lace for Royal Gown

Kate Middleton, the new Duchess of Cambridge, wore a gown designed by Sarah Burton, the Artistic Director at Alexander McQueen. Made of white and ivory satin gazar and designed to emulate an opening flower, the gown featured a lace adorned bodice inspired by Victorian corsetry - a classic McQueen reference, a plunging neckline, long sleeves, and a train of more than nine cascading feet. A truly extraordinary lace was needed to exalt the dress and in a symbolic nod to time-honored traditions, Burton and the newest member of the monarchy chose Sophie Hallette, the renown French company that has been making lace since 1887.

"Everybody from the factory floor to the designers was thrilled when the news spread that our lace was on the dress," said Romain Lescroart, CEO of Sophie Hallette. "Our laces have adorned haute couture creations and luxury goods worldwide for 127 years, but this certainly marks a crowning achievement in our history for which we draw great pride."

The Sophie Hallette lace selected by Burton is an exclusive model designed in 1958 and was manufactured on artisanal looms that are more than 100 years old. The roses, daffodils and shamrocks of the particularly dainty floral motif were cut out from the original lace and hand-sewn onto the silk tulle of the décolleté, sleeves and train by the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace, using a Carrickmacross lace-making technique, which originates from 1820's Ireland.

    About Sophie Hallette

Based in Caudry, France and family-run for three generations since its founding in 1887, Sophie Hallette sets the world standard for high-quality lace craftsmanship. Manufactured respecting traditional methods on Leavers looms more than 100 years old and maintained by craftsmen whose know-how is unique in the world, Sophie Hallette laces are a staple of the most famous brands in haute couture and luxury goods including: Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Zuhair Murad, Basil Soda, Elie Saab, Nina Ricci,Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Bottega Veneta, Valentino, Brioni, Fendi, Lanvin and Givenchy among others.

The Top Baby Names of 2010 Revealed

LONDON, December 31, 2010/PRNewswire/ -- Katie and Amy have fallen out of the list of the top 20 female christian names, it emerged yesterday (30th January 2010).

The monikers of troubled stars Katie Price and Amy Winehouse have been replaced by prettier and less infamous names, Maisie and Isabella.

The highest climber in the list of the most popular girls' names in the UK today is Bella, due in no small part to the lead character in Twilight, played by actress Kristen Stewart. Lacey, as in EastEnders actress Lacey Turner, is also on the up, soaring from number 57 up to 37. Florence is also becoming increasingly popular, moving up 33 places, as is Maisy.

Olivia is still top after 3 years and Sophie is still second. Lily is now third, up from 8th place, with Emily and Ruby completing the top five.

In the boys list Jack has finally been bumped off top spot by Oliver after 16 years in first place. Jack is now second while Harry, Charlie and Alfie, all non-movers, make up the top five.

Another bad year for F1 ace Lewis Hamilton has seen the popularity of his first name drop from 13th to 19th place, whilst his singer girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger fares even worse, with the name Nicole dropping seven places down the girls list to 84th place.

Ollie emerged as the biggest climber - up 56 places to number 53 - while Zachary, perhaps inspired by High School Musical's Zac Efron or even the son of jungle queen Stacey Soloman, has also become more common.

Bobby - the name of the late Jade Goody's son - is another big climber, up 25 places to number 70. And Kai - Coleen and Wayne Rooney's son has stepped up 10 places to number 56, despite his father's indiscretions.

The list was compiled by parenting club Bounty from names given to 423,000 children born in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland during 2010.

Yesterday, Faye Mingo, spokeswoman for bounty.com (http://www.bounty.com/) said: ''Our records show that parents are continuing to be influenced by popular culture and celebrity trends.

"The remarkable rise in popularity of names such as Ollie and Florence are most probably due to the X Factor star Olly Murs and the singer from Florence and the Machine experiencing their time in the limelight.

"However, parents are looking to a wide range of sources for influence and also seem to be rediscovering more traditional, 'old-fashioned' names like Ava and Stanley which have been more associated with grandparents in the past.

"Biblical names are also proving popular with Noah rising 20 places to 15th place and Jacob up 7, just missing the top ten."

Olivia is enjoying its third year in top spot after deposing Grace in 2008.

Jessica climbed one place to sixth, while Chloe dropped from fifth to seventh. Ava made it into the top ten for the first time while Grace slipped to ninth from sixth.

Amelia completed the top ten. Lucy was a non-mover at 13 while the next four places were all taken up by new names, including Isabella which climbed eight places to 14th.

Megan, Isla and Freya have all become more popular as has Lilly, most probably inspired by the singer Lily Allen.

On the boys list Jack finally surrendered top spot to Oliver but very little of the rest of the top ten changed. William climbed one spot to eighth as did Daniel to ninth while James slipped two to tenth.

Other names we will be hearing more regularly includes Logan, which climbed seven places to 17th and Oscar, which moved up four to 22nd.

Callum and Liam seem to have had their day - they were the biggest fallers in the top 30, seven and nine places respectively.

And new entries into the bounty.com top 100 lists were Esme, Courtney, Jude, Elliot and Stanley.

Faye Mingo added: "A recent study we ran found that one in five parents regret the names they have chosen for their children, so it's more important than ever for parents to choose a name them and their child will love for the rest of their life.

"It's hard to predict what we'll see next year but it's most probable that celebrities and popular culture will again play a part - and with a royal wedding on the horizon we may well see an increase in Williams and Kates born in celebration!"
